NFL Playoff Quarterbacks’ Rookie Cards Soaring in Value at Auction

During the intense 2023-24 NFL playoffs, where the final four quarterbacks are making headlines on the field, they are also causing a stir in the sports memorabilia world. The rare rookie cards of these talented quarterbacks are experiencing a surge in online auctions, attracting high bids and increasing in value. The quarterbacks in question are Patrick Mahomes II from the Kansas City Chiefs, Brock Purdy from the San Francisco 49ers, Lamar Jackson from the Baltimore Ravens, and Jared Goff from the Detroit Lions.

In the AFC Championship game, fans witnessed a thrilling matchup between two-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes and versatile quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is considered the frontrunner for the 2023 NFL MVP award. The NFC championship showcased a battle between second-year sensation Brock Purdy and emerging veteran Jared Goff. Both Purdy and Goff rank among the top five in passing yards, with Purdy ranked third and Goff fourth in passing touchdowns.

Interestingly, in the world of sports collectibles, these four quarterbacks are generating a lot of attention for their rookie cards in January. This continues a trend of Purdy’s rookie cards selling for over $10,000, such as a 2022 National Treasures signed patch card graded PSA 9, which garnered an impressive $15,000 on 53 bids.

The rookie cards of Lamar Jackson are not to be overlooked either. A Gem-Mint 2018 Panini Prizm Black Finite card recently fetched an astonishing $51,100 on 76 bids. Another sought-after item featuring Lamar Jackson was a 2018 National Treasures autographed patch card numbered #27/99 and graded BGS 9.5, which sold for an impressive $18,000 on 39 bids.

Despite facing ups and downs throughout their careers, Jared Goff’s rookie cards are also attracting growing interest.
