SCP’s Spring Premier Auction Showcases Rare Sports Memorabilia

SCP Auctions is gearing up to unveil a treasure trove of sports memorabilia in its Spring Premier catalog, promising a lineup that will leave collectors in awe. Among the standout items set to go under the hammer is the exclusive George Mikan Minneapolis Lakers warm-up suit, a piece of basketball history that holds the signature of the legendary player himself. This rare find, adorned with Mikan’s autograph on both the jacket and pants, comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Sports Investors Authentication and is predicted to command bids exceeding $400,000.

As a pivotal figure in the world of basketball, Mikan’s memorabilia, particularly game-worn articles, are highly sought after by enthusiasts. The auction will also feature a selection of prime vintage baseball cards, including coveted gems like a PSA 7 Mickey Mantle 1951 Bowman rookie card, not one, but two 1952 Topps Mantles, a 1963 Topps Mantle graded SGC 9, and a scarce 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig card also graded SGC 9, with the Gehrig card slated to reach a whopping $150,000 or more.

Intriguingly, fans of Pete Rose memorabilia will discover the second-ranked master set of his cards following SCP’s previous sale of the top-ranked set last autumn. The auction lineup further boasts noteworthy items related to Shohei Ohtani, including his jersey worn on Jackie Robinson Day in 2023, anticipated to attract six-figure bids, along with Ohtani’s 200th career home run ball.

Adding more sparkle to the event are two pairs of game-worn shoes from the iconic Michael Jordan, a distinctive Roberto Clemente cap, a Ronald Acuna Jr. jersey authenticated through photo matching, and a 2023-signed jersey from Tua Tagovailoa. High-end jewelry pieces will also be up for grabs, such as the 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP award, Olympic gold medals belonging to Jim Hines and Oleksandr Abramenko, a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series ring, and a championship ring from the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA victory.

The auction extravaganza doesn’t stop there, featuring additional highlights like game-worn and autographed shoes from the late Kobe Bryant, a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP trophy, a bat used by baseball legend Ted Williams, a 2023 Bowman Chrome Draft Tom Brady Orange Refractor autograph card, a 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie card, a multi-signed baseball from the early Hall of Fame inductees and Yankee greats, and a collection of historical sports memorabilia dating back to the early 20th century.

With an impressive array of over 400 lots on offer, the auction kicks off on Wednesday and will run until Saturday, April 13, inviting bids from eager collectors and sports enthusiasts alike on the SCP Auctions website, SCPAuctions.com. Get ready to dive into the world of sports memorabilia and secure a piece of history for yourself.
